The Winchester 400 was a tremendous race
last weekend. Brandon was fortunate enough to make
the race starting in 34th spot but the engine expired
during the warm up laps, so we didn't get to start.
The capacity crowd of over 7500 people saw a tremendous
battle in the last few lap between the eventual winner,
David Stremme and Kyle Bush who finished in second
place. We had bought our first CRA Super
Series Car with the hope of just making races and seat
time for Brandon. We came one race away from that
goal.
The US Army had a tremendous display set
up at the track for the 400 lap race.
We are very pleased to have accomplished
most of our goals for 2008. Plans are in the works
for the 2009 season with equipment upgrades and past
experience, we anticipate a tremendous season next
year in the CRA Super Car Series
Fagin Motorsports raced over last
weekend at O'Reilly Raceway Park in the very competitive
Super Car Series. We struggled all weekend with
handling first which we solved and then in the race, our
carburetor was pumping to much VP Racing fuel into the
engine and it would barely run. After starting
23rd in the field, Brandon finished in 22 spot.
Next on our schedule is the premier race
in the CRA Series, THE WINCHESTER 400. This is the
only race where we perform pit stops during the race.
Kyle Bush and David Streme will be racing with Brandon
in this event as well as the regular drivers in the
series. We are hopping to make the race as it's
the most competitive of the year.
On a side note, after meeting with the
Army representative this last week, it appears,
although not official, that Fagin Motorsports will again
be with the US Army in 2009. We are more excited
than ever because we hope to run the entire CRA Supercar
Series starting out in January in south Georgia.
More to come. Hope to see you at Winchester on Oct.
10, 11, 12.
September 7,2008--Sorry about the delay
in results but the computer error has been repaired and
we are now ready to report.
The ARA US Army Chevrolet was in action
last night ,September 6th, at O'Reilly Raceway Park in
Indianapolis for a 40 lap Salute to Police and Fireman
Night. Our normal driver Brandon Fagin was unable
to attend due to his firefighter occupation and so we
had a substitute driver for the night named John Heck.
John has helped us in the past and is a very experienced
driver but as things happen was involved with contact
with the inside wall causing severe damage to our car
that was just repaired with severe damage from it's last
race. That's racing! The only problem is
that we are not sure it can be repaired in time for the
big Salem Speedway race in a couple of weeks. We
will keep you posted.
August 17, 2008--The US Army Chevrolet
competed last night at Salem Speedway in Salem, IN. and
held our own until a hiem joint broke holding the rear
end. We completed 40 laps of hard racing when the
part failed. It was a $15 part and of coarse was
certainly unexpected. Brandon stated the it was
the best prepared race car he had ever had the
opportunity to compete in. Just a note: When
we began this CRA Super Car Series this year our goal
was to just make laps in preparation for the 2009
season. Our plan is going very well. We
needed a year part time to get our a ducks lined up for
next year.
The ARA car that was almost totaled a
week ago is being put back together at this time and we
hope to have it raceable by the first week in September.
It won't be as pretty as it was but hopefully it will be
as fast as it was. GO ARMY!!!
August 11, 2008--Well, it happened,
Brandon was involved in the big one at O'Reilly Raceway
Park on Sat. night. After 37 laps in the 40 lap
feature in front of an estimated 10,000 fans, The US
Army Chevrolet was almost destroyed after being hit by
another car running at full speed while we were stopped.
The car is in intensive care and is in a real life of
death situation for the car. Brandon is fine
except for soreness in his neck and rib cage. As I
always say, "if you don't want it wrecked, don't put it
on the track". If you race a car, sooner or later,
it's going to be involved in a wreck. For a
visual, the left rear tire is at the back of the drivers
seat
On a brighter note, next Sat. night we
will be competing at the lightning fast Salem Speedway
in Salem, IN. We are trying to pull out all the
stops to make the car qualify better than in the past
races. The shock package is being done by a Nextel
Cup shop and we are having the car professionally
prepared for the race. Hopefully it will be a
little faster than in the past. GO ARMY!
August 3, 2008--The US Army Chevrolet
Monte Carlo with driver Brandon Fagin scored an
impressive second place finish in the ARA Limited Late
Model race at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Clermont, IN. on
Sat. night. Brandon passed his way to the great
finish with some impressive driving. During the
post race interview, Brandon stated that he just needed
a few more laps to work his way into the lead. It
just wasn't to be.
The team is back on the road next
Saturday night, August 9th for UAW Night at O'Reilly
Raceway Park. The crowd will be huge with about
seven thousand people in the crowd.
July 17, 2008---Due to a contract
problem, the ARA Race scheduled for this Sun. July 20th
at Winchester Speedway has been canceled. It is
unfortunate, but certainly beyond our control. We
will be back in action on Aug. 2nd at O'Reilly Raceway
Park in Indianapolis. Of course, we will be with
the Indianapolis Colts Tour for the last time this year
on Friday July 18 at the North/South Football Game in
Carmel, IN. from 6 to 8 PM. Hope to see you
there.
July 14,2008---It happened again.
Weather forced the postponement of the July 10 ARA Race
at O'Reilly Raceway Park. It has been rescheduled
to Sat. August 2nd.
Fagin Motorsports last Indianapolis
Colts Media event is scheduled for this Friday at Carmel
School for the North/South All Star Football Game.
Brandon will be there to sign autographs and it should
be a big event for all.
Our next competitive event is this
Sunday July 20th at the World Fastest Half Mile Track,
Winchester Speedway for an ARA event. Hopefully,
the weather will cooperate and we can really race.
July 10, 2008 Fagin Motorsports/US
Army racing team is looking forward to competing this
Sat. night July 12, 2008 at O'Reilly Raceway Park
in the Advanced Racing Association Series. There
have been weather problems with the series since the
start of this year but hopefully this will be a good non
rain night. The car was fast last time out and we
don't anticipate much difference for this race
The US Army will have
recruiters on site with any questions about joining the
greatest army in the world.
July 5, 2008 The Fagin Motorsports/ US Army Team
competed at Angola Motor Speedway in Angola IN. on
Friday July 3rd with the CRA Supercar Series.
Brandon qualified in 26th starting spot. We missed
the car setup and Brandon said the Army car was "pushing
like a dump truck". Even though we had a poor
starting spot, Brandon drove the car to a 19th place
finish with no damage on the car. The team did
figure out a couple of problems that we need to work on
before the next CRA event for us at Salem Speedway on
August 16th. Brandon met his goal of finishing the
race in both events he has entered and only good things
can come now.
Next race for the Fagin/Army Team will
be next Sat. night at O'Reilly Raceway Park in
Indianapolis in the ARA Racing Series.
Our Fagin Motorsports/ US Army T-Shirts
are in and are selling fast at only $19.95 each.
You can view them in our Souvenir page.
Next Show Car appearance for the #8 ARMY
car with the "Indianapolis Colts Make it Personal
Tour" will be this Thursday from 4 to 6 PM in Portland,
IN. Come out and meet the players, cheerleaders,
and of course the driver of the US Army #8, Brandon
Fagin..
